Things were off a bit on Saturday when Greencastle took the field vs Owen Valley. A game originally scheduled for 10:00 am had to be moved to 3:00 due to student participation in SAT testing, a pregame ceremony presentation to the fans, and the heat led to a slow start by the Tiger Cubs who managed only 1 goal in the first half, while giving up one goal.

But the second half told a different story when Greencastle took control of the game scoring 5 goals while conceding one more en route to the 6-2 victory.

“I commented after the game that everything just felt off today. We could not find a good rhythm. This is where our depth helped a bit. The ability move players around gave us some opportunities in the second half and the girls capitalized. Caitlin (Leitcher) did a good job of having her team ready to play today. They are only going to get better as the season a along” Though Owen Valley scored twice the defense only allowed 5 Owen Valley shots on the day, while taking 32.

Goals were scored by:

Kennedy Trigg (2)
Katie White
Sydney Doan
Riley Wainman (2)
