Comments: Edgewood won the three-way meet over N. Putnam, and GHS on Wed. at Tiger Pointe CC with a score of 217, N. Put shot a 218, and GHS a 233. Medalist was Covey of Edgewood with a 45 followed by Molly Ramey of GHS with a 47, and Niah Goff also with a 47. The course proved it’s difficulty for the players as 6 of the 15 shot a score of 60 or higher. The hills, fast, small greens caused problems for everyone. The heat and humidity also took it’s toll on the players. Staying hydrated was difficult. Molly shot a solid round with her only double par on the par 3 8th hole. Chipping and putting are still one of the skills that our players have not improved enough to lower their scores to the point of being in a better position to win matches. Technique is very important in these skills and our players have not had enough practice to improve these skills. Repetition is the key to getting better. The girls’ season is short with little time for practice along with the many matches played in the short schedule.
Next Match: County Tournament at Clover Meadows 4:30 on Monday, At Twin Bridges in Danville on Wed. at 4:30 and a rescheduled Northview, Crawfordsville three way at Forest Park in Brazil on Thursday at 4:30. Sectional at Forest Park on Sat. Sept. 21 9:00 am.
