The Lady Tiger Cubs were in sectional track action at Terre Haute North this Tuesday night. The fourteen team sectional provided great competition for the team as they closed out their season with many strong performances. Four athletes were able to advance to regional competition and continue their season. Michayla Dinn (9) ran a massive personal record of 12:41 to finish third in the 3200. Jada Amis (12) threw 37’5.5″ in the shot put and also placed third to make advance to her fourth regional competition. Sydney Lewis (12) finished second on attempts with a vault of 10’0″ to punch her ticket to the Bloomington North Regional. The highlight of the Tiger Cub track attack, however, was senior Seelye Stoffregen(12) as she won her first individual sectional championship in the 300 meter hurdles, breaking a school record in the process, with a time of 47.21.
The Tiger Cubs had a strong team performance as well, finishing fourth overall as a team behind only Northview, Terre Haute North, and sectional champions Terre Haute South. Scoring for the Tiger Cubs were the 4×800 meter relay of Dinn, Audrie Brennan (9), Faith Featherston (9), and Emma Fairholm (9); Keeghan McLain (12) in the high jump; Kennedy Trigg (10) in the long jump and 400 meter dash; Claire Gillen (12) in the shot put; the 4×100 meter relay team of Stoffregen, Trigg, Alexia Nobles (11), and Lauren Elam (9); and the 4×400 meter relay team of Stoffregen, Trigg, Elam, and Madison Rodgers (11).
Those advancing to the Regional meet will compete Tuesday, May 21 at Bloomington North High School.
