Comments: GHS Tiger Cubs won their 3rd consecutive WIC golf tournament Saturday at Rolling Meadows GC. Led by Conner Taylor’s 76 and Jaxon Parmley’s 77, followed by Benton Parmley’s 82, Vincent Martoglio’s 88, and Tyler Rodgers’s 94 the Cubs shot a score of 323 to 2nd place Northview’s 336. The tournament was played in cool, windy conditions on a Rolling Meadows course that made shot making difficult and pin placements that were tough to putt. Conner and Jaxon were the only Tiger Cub players that have played Rolling Meadowa in tournament conditions, so give a lot of credit for the victory to our three young and inexperienced players Benton, Vincent, and Tyler. The improvement and hard work put in by those three and the leadership shown by Conner and Jaxon were the factors that secured the win. All five made shots, chips, and putts that were crucial in making the winning score. Conner and Jaxon’s scores were 3rd and 4th overall following Van Ness of Brown County and Heckman of Owen Valley who shot 74 and 75. The Cubs are playing their best golf of the season and going into the final matches of the year should continue to lower their scores to make them competitive in County and Sectional.
