Game Recap

The Greencastle boys soccer team beat the Brown county boys soccer team for the WIC Crossover Final. The boys won 4-0 to clench the trophy. Greencastle dominated the first half with great ball movement and possession. Evan Crowe scored first with a ball in by Hector Lezama. This early goal gave the confidence the boys needed to see the game out. Brody Watson had a miraculous save from a quick free kick that would have tied the game up. Towards the end of the second half Brody punted the ball up to Evan Crowe. Evan weaved around several players, placing the ball near post, to make the game 2-0 before half.

In the second half, Greencastle gave a little more space to Brown County. The sun was beating down and the heat was playing a toll. You could see this affecting both teams. The space was not enough for Brown County to create any goal scoring opportunities though. Greencastle went on to score two more goals in the second half. A shot by Evan Crowe, deflected by the keeper, and cleaned up by Ivan Glotzbach. Then a driven cross on the ground from Evan Crowe to Ben Wilkerson who scored his first goal of the season.

The boys played extremely well. The center backs were impenetrable, the fullbacks played out of their skin. Our forwards were a real challenge to deal with and our midfield orchestrated play. The boys now look forward to the next two games in hand, and a promising sectionals.
