The GHS Tiger Cubs came out strong on Saturday against the Cascade Cadets. The Cadets got a quick goal in the first two minutes of the game, but the Tiger Cubs quickly pulled themselves together and held the Cadets offense at bay for the remaining duration of the half.
While the Tiger Cubs made several advances in the first half, but they were unsuccessful in their attempts to get the ball past the Cascade keeper. The cascade defense was strong and stopped many Tiger Cub advances around the top of the penalty box. Ultimately, the Tiger Cubs went into halftime trailing the Cadets by 1 point.
During the second half, the Tiger Cubs looked strong, dominating possession in Cascade’s half of the field, but even with 3 corner kicks the Cubs couldn’t find the back of the net. With about 20 minutes to go in the half, Cascade’s star midfielder was able to break through the Cubs defensive line and chipped one over goalkeeper Amelia Smith’s head. The Cadets were leading 2-0, and while the Tiger Cubs put up a strong fight they were not able to score in the second half. The Cadets walked away victorious, but the Tiger Cubs efforts on Saturday show that this team can hold their own with the best of them.
